3 Day Inverness

Tour Description
Our 3-day adventure to Inverness is perfect for those looking to explore some of Scotland’s most spectacular glens and coastlines, visit beautiful castles, and catch glimpses of our wonderful wildlife.
**Day 1** We begin our journey in Edinburgh and head to Queensferry for a photograph with the world-famous Forth Rail Bridge. Next, we enter the enchanting forests of Perthshire and visit Pitlochry, known for its Victorian-style architecture and famous whisky ice cream. After enjoying our ice cream, we’ll visit the Dalwhinnie Distillery, where you can take a tour to see how whisky is made or pick up a souvenir from the gift shop. As we travel through the Cairngorms, keep an eye out for reindeer along the way. We’ll then relax on the golden shores of the beautiful Loch Morlich. Continuing our journey towards Inverness, we could stop at Carrbridge’s famous bridge or enjoy a sunset trip to Clava Cairns, an ancient pagan site of worship dating back over 4,000 years, known for being a filming location for the TV series “Outlander.” In the evening, stroll along the banks of the River Ness in the city of Inverness, soaking in the local ambiance with live music emanating from the pubs and an abundance of restaurants offering some of the finest local seafood.
**Day 2** There’s so much to explore in the local area! Why not begin your day with a trip to Culloden Battlefield, the site where Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army of Jacobites were ultimately defeated. You can walk the battlefield or take a guided tour. Next, visit Dunrobin Castle, a fairytale-like structure with formal gardens inspired by the Palace of Versailles, or Tarbat Ness Lighthouse, a stunning landmark near the fishing village of Portmahomack. The Shandwick Stones will transport you back to the time of the Picts who once inhabited this land. No trip to Inverness is complete without visiting Cawdor Castle, a private fortress owned by the Thanes of Cawdor, a family made famous by Shakespeare’s play “Macbeth.” We’ll return to Inverness to spend your second night enjoying what the locals fondly call “Inversneckie.”
**Day 3** Today, we’ll head to the iconic Loch Ness, where you can take a boat trip, embark on a search for the infamous monster “Nessie,” or simply relax on the banks and enjoy the spectacular views. Next, we’ll journey through the Great Glen to the coastal town of Fort William for some shopping and lunch. While taking in views of Loch Linnhe, we’ll continue our trip back to Edinburgh, stopping in the hauntingly beautiful Glencoe to learn about the infamous Glencoe Massacre and capture photos of its breathtaking landscape. Finally, we’ll visit the charming Highland market town of Callander to greet some Highland cows before ending our day with a trip to the Kelpies, our stunning equestrian statues, before returning to Edinburgh.
