5 Day Islands

Tour Description

“Experience Authentic Highland and Island Life: 5-Day Tour of the Hebrides

Day 1: Our adventure begins in Edinburgh as we journey over the Forth Bridges towards Dunkeld, known as the “”Gateway to the Highlands.”” Here, enjoy the meandering river and charming cafes. We will drive through the heart of Cairngorms National Park and stop in the bustling town of Aviemore for lunch. Afterward, we’ll take a scenic walk along the impressive Rogie Falls and explore Corrieshalloch Gorge, a mile-long canyon in the Scottish Highlands famous for its suspension bridge. Finally, we’ll catch the ferry from Ullapool across The Minch to the Isle of Lewis and Harris, where we will spend the next two nights.

Day 2: Lewis and Harris are essentially one island divided into two parts. In the morning, we’ll explore Lewis, visiting the Butt of Lewis, the northernmost point of the island known for its rugged cliffs, powerful waves, and prominent lighthouse. We’ll also see the village of Port of Ness and the Arnol Blackhouse, which offer insights into traditional island life. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Clo Mor Harris Tweed Centre, which engagingly details the months-long process of mastering a Weaver’s skills. We’ll conclude the day with a visit to Luskentyre Beach, recognized as one of the UK’s best beaches, where you may feel as if you’ve stepped into the Caribbean.

Day 3: We’ll depart from the Isle of Lewis and Harris and head to the Inner Hebrides, making our way to the Isle of Skye. Taking the ferry from Tarbert to Uig, we’ll immerse ourselves in the enchanting Fairy Glen, known as the home of the Fae. We’ll explore the breathtaking Trotternish Peninsula, including the stunning Quiraing viewpoint, before arriving in Portree for a well-deserved nightcap and delicious locally caught seafood.

Day 4: Today, we will delve deeper into the wonders of Skye. We can take a refreshing dip in the majestic Fairy Pools, hike the iconic Black Cuillin hills, and even dip your face into the river beneath The Sligachan Bridge for a chance at eternal beauty. Our visit to Dunvegan Castle will include a stroll through its beautiful ornamental gardens, which overlook The Minch, the waters surrounding the Hebrides. We can tailor the itinerary to suit your preferences.

Day 5: It’s time to head back to Edinburgh, but our adventure isn’t over yet! We’ll visit the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, a filming location for Game of Thrones and Highlander. As we drive down the west coast towards the Great Glen, we’ll take in the magnificent views, culminating in a visit to the dramatic Glencoe, which is famous for the historical massacre and surrounded by some of Scotland’s most stunning mountains. Our tour concludes with a stop at The Wallace Monument in Stirling before we make our way back to Edinburgh.”
